This year’s Halloween Howler was full of laughter, creativity, and community spirit — a perfect mix of spooky fun and local pride! Every year, the Beltline Business Improvement Area (BLOX BIA) partners with Beltline businesses to host this awesome trick-or-treat adventure through the neighbourhood, bringing families together for a safe, fun-filled Halloween right in the heart of downtown.

The day kicked off at the BLOX Arts Centre (834 11 Ave SW), where families enjoyed games, arts and crafts, and plenty of candy. Kids got creative with pumpkin decorating and the create-your-own-monster station, while our photo booth captured all the cute and spooky costumes. Before heading out on the route, little trick-or-treaters picked up their candy bags, stickers, and maps to start their Beltline journey.
Along the route, local Beltline businesses joined the fun — offering candy, treats, and hands-on activities at each stop. This year’s highlights included colouring stations, a paper fortune teller, and even a haunted dollhouse that had kids both thrilled and curious. Many businesses shared discounts, coupons, and vouchers for parents too, making it a fun experience for the whole family and a great way to support local shops and cafés.

Halloween Howler is one of the many events BLOX BIA organizes to connect residents with the local business community. It helps small businesses gain exposure and invites families to explore the Beltline in a new and festive way — showing that downtown can be just as warm, welcoming, and community-focused as any neighbourhood.
We’re already looking forward to seeing everyone again next year — with more candy, more creativity, and more community spirit!
