The City of Calgary and Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) work together to enhance local business districts through collaboration on economic development, urban planning, and community initiatives. The City supports BIAs by collecting and allocating BIA levies, providing resources for streetscape improvements, safety programs, and marketing efforts, and facilitating advocacy on key municipal policies. Through our partnership with Tourism Calgary, BLOX works to position the district as a must-visit destination for both locals and visitors. Together, we promote BLOX businesses through curated features, collaborative campaigns, and inclusion in visitor-facing directories and itineraries. This partnership helps increase visibility for local merchants, supports tourism-driven foot traffic, and strengthens the Beltline’s role as a vibrant hub for dining, shopping, culture, and experiences in Calgary.

Every summer, BLOX partners with Sled Island to bring the energy of this iconic music & arts festival straight into the heart of the Beltline. With over 30,000 attendees, this weeklong celebration transforms our neighborhood into a cultural hotspot, activating local businesses with exclusive promotions, live shows, and special events.As part of this partnership, the BLOX ARTS Centre proudly hosts the official Sled Island Artist LoungeThis collaboration not only fuels the festival’s electric atmosphere but also strengthens our local economy—driving foot traffic, boosting sales, and showcasing BLOX as a must-visit destination.
Sled Island is an annual multi-venue music and arts festival in Calgary, known for its diverse lineup of independent bands, comedians, filmmakers, and artists from around the world. Spanning five days, the festival transforms the city into a vibrant cultural hub, featuring over 250 performances and events across various venues, including bars, galleries, and outdoor spaces.

BUMP Festival is an annual public art initiative that transforms Calgary’s streets with large-scale murals, graffiti art, and cultural programming. Celebrating creativity and urban vibrancy, the festival brings together local and international artists to turn the city into an open-air gallery, enriching public spaces and fostering community connection.

Through our partnership with BUMP, BLOX has enhanced our district with vibrant murals and artistic patio barriers, enriching the visual and cultural landscape of our zone. We actively showcase these works through multiple mural tours each year, bringing exposure to local businesses and fostering community engagement. Additionally, we hosted the BUMP Alley Party, which successfully attracted over 1,000 attendees to our BIA, further driving foot traffic and economic activity for our merchants.

The RadiCare Ventures property maintenance team hires people who have employment barriers, such as homelessness, addiction, or mental health issues. This helps support vulnerable communities, minimise negative interactions with the public, and offer community safety and cleanliness in a whole new way.

RadiCare Ventures
RadiCare is a social enterprise dedicated to providing compassionate security, cleaning, and community support services while creating employment opportunities for individuals facing barriers such as homelessness and addiction recovery. By prioritizing dignity and inclusion, RadiCare helps foster safer public spaces and stronger communities across Calgary.
Alpha House is a Calgary-based nonprofit that provides shelter, detox, outreach, and harm reduction services for individuals facing addiction and homelessness. Through compassionate care and community partnerships, Alpha House works to support vulnerable populations with safe spaces, crisis intervention, and long-term recovery resources.

Encampment Team
Alpha House’s Encampment Team offers mobile assistance, providing outreach and support to individuals experiencing homelessness, connecting them to shelter, housing, and essential services. For more information or assistance, contact them below.
Alpha House offers Engaging Vulnerable Persons Workshop to all businesses for free should they be interested in learning more about social issues with care for those experiencing homelessness.

AAMP Alberta Arts and Music Productions supports BLOX by providing technical sound production and creative programming support for events and activations across the district. AAMP manages on-site audio systems and live sound operations, and works closely with our team to curate and coordinate artist lineups for BLOX’s signature events—helping ensure programming is delivered smoothly and professionally.
A Calgary-based arts organization focused on producing, supporting, and presenting multidisciplinary arts and music projects. It functions as a local production company, connecting artists, venues, and audiences through curated events, performances, and collaborative projects in Alberta’s cultural scene.

Canada’s largest chain of musical instrument retailers, serving musicians, educators, and arts organizations nationwide. With a strong commitment to music education and live performance, the company provides a wide range of instruments, professional audio equipment, rentals, repairs, and production support, playing a vital role in Canada’s music and cultural landscape.

Our partnership with Long & McQuade provides us with professional PA systems and backline equipment at a significant discounted rate to support a wide range of district needs. This includes not only live music and cultural programming, but also community events, workshops, seminars, and other activations—helping BLOX deliver well-equipped, accessible, and professionally produced experiences across the district.

As part of our marketing and promotional efforts, we sponsor NEON Window, a weekly program hosted by DJ Hannah airing Tuesdays from 6–7 pm on CJSW 90.9 FM. Through this partnership, BLOX highlights district businesses, shares public announcements, and promotes signature events—connecting local audiences with what’s happening across the BLOX and amplifying visibility for our members.
CJSW 90.9 FM is Calgary’s campus and community radio station, based at the University of Calgary. Known for its diverse, locally driven programming, CJSW supports independent music, arts, culture, and community voices, providing a platform for emerging artists and alternative perspectives while contributing to Calgary’s cultural landscape.
