Building a Better BLOX: How We Support Our Community and Businesses

At the heart of the BLOX district is a simple but powerful belief: when we invest in people and public spaces, everyone thrives. That’s why we’ve built strong partnerships with organizations that help us create a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for our businesses, residents and visitors. 

Two of our most impactful partnerships – RadiCare Ventures and AlphaHouse – play key roles in supporting both the physical and social well-being of our district. Together, we’re fostering a community that is cared for from the sidewalks to the storefronts. 

RadiCare Ventures: Keeping the BLOX clean and Welcoming

RadiCare Ventures is our boots-on-the-ground team for cleanliness and beautification. Their work includes street cleaning, graffiti removal, window washing, and overall maintenance of our public spaces. With their help, the BLOX is not just a district – it’s a destination. 

From early morning clean-ups to rapid response for vandalism, RadiCare’s crews ensure that our streets remain inviting for everyone. Clean sidewalks and sparkling windows may seem like small details, but they contribute immensely to the overall atmosphere and sense of safety in our area. For businesses, this means better customer impressions, increased foot traffic, and a district that reflects pride and professionalism. 

In addition to daily upkeep, RadiCAre also supports our community through education and training. Each summer, we host free Naloxone training workshops, open to all. These sessions equip participants with life-saving knowledge on how to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses, helping to create a district where residents and business owners alike can feel prepared and empowered to support those in crisis. 

This partnership also reflects our commitment to sustainability and public health. Regular cleaning and graffiti removal deter further vandalism and create a positive feedback loop – when spaces are well-maintained, people are more likely to treat them with respect.

Alpha House:  Compassionate Safety Through the Ambassador Programme

While RadiCare focuses on the physical upkeep of the district, Alpha House helps us support our most vulnerable community members. Through their Ambassador Program, specially trained responders engage with individuals experiencing homelessness or substance use issues. 

These ambassadors provide real-time assistance, offering compassion and connection rather than confrontation. Whether it’s directing someone to a shelter, offering basic necessities, or guiding them toward housing and recovery services, the ambassadors bridge the gap between crisis and care. 

To further support understanding and engagement, Alpha House also offers Engaging with Vulnerable Persons workshops, available upon request. These sessions help businesses and community members better understand how to respond with empathy, awareness, and appropriate resources when faced with complex social issues in the public realm. 

For businesses, this program offers peace of mind. Instead of shouldering difficult interactions alone, business owners and staff have access to trained professionals who know how to de-escalate and assist with empathy. This not only makes the district safer – it makes it more humane.
