Over $40,000 in Giveaways, Performances & Community Support: A Year of Giving Back in the Beltline

Every month, we love finding new ways to give back to the community that makes the Beltline what it is. From unique experiences to local partnerships and free community events, 2025 was a year filled with sharing, celebration, and connection. Through prizes, concerts, food pop-up, art activations, and charitable initiatives, BLOX contributed more than $40,000 in community value this year.

At Metrovino, two lucky winners each received a $50 gift card, a personalised wine consultation, and surprise gifts, for a total value of $200.

April – The SLED Staycation

One of our biggest giveaways yet — a $1,350 BLOX Staycation Package that included Sled Island festival passes, SKA hydrotherapy sessions, Last Best goodies, a hotel stay at Residence Inn by Marriott, GOAT merch, Metrovino gift card, BLOX Arts Centre drink vouchers, and more.

May – Cycling in Style

In May, we teamed up with The Bike Shop for two exciting initiatives. One lucky winner took home a Smith Forefront 2 Helmet valued at $290, while our Free Bike Tunes & Tune-Ups event offered 50 people complimentary bike tune-ups worth $4,000 in total.

June – Meals That Give Back

Regrub joined the fun by giving away one month of meals — four per week — valued at $150, sharing the joy of good food all month long.

July – Free Meal Pop-Up

Our annual Free Meal Pop-Up served over 400 free hot dogs, chips, drinks, and coffee to anyone who stopped by. Any leftovers went to Alpha House to continue supporting our city’s most vulnerable neighbours.

August – Calgary Pop-Up Care Village

We proudly sponsored the Calgary Pop-Up Care Village, a one-day event offering free medical, dental, optometry, food, clothing, and social services — bringing care and connection to those who need it most.

September – Murals & Music

We partnered with BUMP Festival to host two free Mural Tours. On the same day, we held Party in the Park at Lougheed House, covering the live music, family activities, lawn games, balloon art, and caricature portraits so everyone could enjoy the afternoon at no cost, alongside optional spending at our beer garden, food truck station and vendor market.

October – Halloween Howler

Families joined us across the Beltline for our annual Halloween Howler, featuring trick-or-treat stops at local businesses, pumpkin decorating (with take-home pumpkins), colouring stations, crafts, axe throwing, garden games, and a spooky photo booth.

November – Movie Pass Giveaway

In November, we partnered with Elevation Pictures and The TARO Group to give away three movie passes , each granting two tickets, to three lucky winners for the screening of Stellan Skarsgard & Elle Fanning's SENTIMENTAL VALUE— a total value of $120.

December – BLOXing Day

Last year, we hosted BLOXing Day, where for just $10, guests received a complimentary drink, appetiser, and a guaranteed gift worth at least $50 — over $10,000 in prizes were given away!

What’s Next

We’re bringing BLOXing Day back this winter — between January and March 2026 — and can’t wait to continue our tradition of giving back, celebrating our local businesses, and spreading joy in the Beltline.
